Adopt your doodle-face fabric buttons here! In Aid Of Japan

A total of 70 hand-pressed hand-drawn doodle-face buttons have been adopted so far! (I will be updating the final amount again later this week) – thank you all for showing your support for our Japan Relief Fundraiser. Sew it on or pin it on to show off your support! Kindly note once again that Full Proceeds from the Net Sales of these buttons will be donated to the Singapore Red Cross. Besides the cost of materials and so on, I will also be paying for all the etsy fees from my own pocket, so no worries about that.

This Surprise Doodle-Face Fabric Button fundraiser In Aid Of Japan, one of our favorite places in this world, will continue until this Friday 25 March 2011, marking 1 week since I started this fundraiser in aid of Japan, and 2 weeks since the terrible tragedy struck. Because I am out of town, it will be pretty difficult to attend to all your doodle-faces requests. Honestly, I am having so much fun attending to all your faces-requests – I have not had such freestyle, freehand fun in quite a while, and that is one of my favorite things to do, ever. And I also did not expect you sweet peeps to enjoy having a requests option so much! Thus the decision to end the fundraiser this Friday. I think it has been a pretty successful 5-day run so far on, considering the buttons are going for only $5 each :) Please continue to show your support if you can and help spread the word. 3 more days! Thank you, and Ganbatte, Japan! Our friends there have been reporting their safety, and we are very sure that our favorite Nippon-land will get right back up on its feet really soon. I want to visit again real soon for some fabric shopping!

CURRENT TOTAL : $214.49 + $92.40 = $306.89 (click More below for details). Thank you so much for giving from your hearts! The second batch of doodle-faces will be mailed out today (Wed 23 March 2011). *First batch of doodle-faces have already been mailed out! (Mon 21 March 2011)

In Aid Of Japan

QUICK UPDATE : 60 buttons adopted so far – a big thank you for chipping in! First batch of buttons will be mailed out tomorrow, Monday 21 March 2011.

UPDATE 4 : 50 buttons adopted in 36 hours by 16 kind souls – thank you all so much for chipping in not only with your pockets, but most importantly, with your sincere hearts. I am so glad you think that this is a meaningful fundraiser, some of you have commented that these fabric buttons are the ‘many faces of humanity’ and are ‘accessible’ to most of us. A big thank you – ‘every little bit counts!‘.

handmade nation fundraiser

this is coming in late, but better late than never….
paper boat is one of littleoddforest’s fab stockist, co-owned by filmmaker/author, faythe levine

“Faythe Levine, co-owner of Paper Boat, is also working on an independently produced documentary called “Handmade Nation: The Rise of DIY Art, Craft & Design” (also to be released as a book by Princeton Architectural Press in November 2008).

The documentary is currently in post production and is in need of funding assistance. In order to help with production cost, monthly raffles have been set up to raise money.

For more information about the documentary, book and to buy raffle tickets please visit the Handmade Nation BLOG HERE. There is also an Etsy shop HERE where you can purchase promotional items and donated handmade work. All proceeds of the raffle and the Etsy shop go towards production cost.”

south asia earthquake appeal

please donate any amounts of monetary contributions if you can, towards the south asia eathquake victims

go here –> http://www.redcross.org.sg/southasiaearthquake_appeal_m.htm

read about it here –> http://www.ifrc.org/

help and donations have not been coming as fast and as much as it is needed for this earthquake. just because media coverage has not been as fervent with regards to this earthquake, compared to hurricane katrina or last year’s tsunami etc. does not mean that this is less serious, of lesser importance, or that the victims are in less dire straits. in fact, they need it more, being in a developing nation and all, as winter is setting in and many are still cut off in the mountainous regions.

littleoddforest and family will be donating a portion of our october earnings to south asia earthquake victims, so please help to do your part as citizens of economically better-off nations
